Aprehend® is a biopesticide used for the control and management of bed bugs. It’s a product made from a naturally occurring fungus called Beauveria bassiana. This fungus infects and kills bed bugs when they come into contact with it.

Aprehend Treatment Process

Step 1: Preparation

Clean surfaces (but avoid chemical cleaners!) – Remove dust and debris using a dry cloth or vacuum, but don’t use disinfectants, bleach, or chemical sprays beforehand, as they can destroy the fungal spores.

Declutter the area – Move objects away from walls and furniture to expose baseboards, bed frames, and other key areas.

Step 2: Strategic Application

Aprehend is NOT sprayed everywhere like traditional pesticides. Instead, it’s applied in thin, barrier-like lines along key surfaces where bed bugs crawl. Target areas include:

Door frames & room entry points

Bed frames & headboards (especially cracks & crevices)

Baseboards & wall junctions

Furniture legs & undersides

Sofas, chairs, and other upholstered furniture

Step 3: Bed Bugs Pick Up the Spores

When bed bugs crawl across treated surfaces, the fungal spores stick to their bodies.

The spores germinate within 24 hours, penetrating the exoskeleton and beginning the infection.

Step 4: The Fungal Infection Spreads

Infected bed bugs return to their hiding places, spreading the spores to others in their colony.

Within 4-10 days, infected bed bugs die.

Even bed bugs that never cross the sprayed area can be infected through direct contact with other contaminated bugs.

Step 5: Long-Term Protection (Up to 3 Months!)
